О чем речь.
Какие-то умники из Микрософта, явно чего-то обожравшись - предложили засовывать дата центры на дно моря.

В то время как мир бурит, роет и рубит - все больше и больше, чтобы хватило все обогреть и подогреть, эти умники решили на халяву подогреть Мировой океан.
Причем под вопли о борьбе с глобальным потеплением.
Поэтому, в процессе изобретения этого девайса использовались даже не грибы, а явно что-то куда более забористое.

Scandinavian telecommunications giant Telia has officially opened its massive colocation data center in Helsinki.
The carrier-neutral facility offers 24MW of power capacity, and its architects call it one of the ‘greenest’ data centers in the world. The site is powered by 100 percent renewable energy and will recycle waste heat from the servers, producing 200,000 MWh per year - enough heat to supply 20,000 homes in the nearby town of Espoo.

Facebook has announced... its stable of servers in Odense, Denmark will connect to a neighborhood district heating system. The company expects the heat will warm 6,900 homes in the area.

Retailer H&M ... announced ... data center is designed to handle an IT load of 1 MW and can heat some 2,500 modern residential apartments at full load.

Amazon... says the system will heat nearly 3 million square feet of office space. The company says this approach is nearly four times more efficient than traditional heating methods and will also enable the Westin Building data center to cut back on the energy it uses to cool its building.

A 500MW data center will have around 83MWh of energy stored in batteries, as a reserve for power failures. However, the energy could also be used more flexibly to help balance the grid in three ways. At a busy time, the data center can be run from the UPS to reduce demand; at times of higher demand, some of their energy can be fed into the local grid, and at times when too much renewable energy is being produced, the batteries can soak up some of the excess.

“Data centers can balance the power reserve, by using batteries instead of fossil fuels, and help to compensate the volatility renewable energy creates,” said Vihersalo. “The next step in optimizing data center assets is the better utilization of the electrical infrastructure.”
